No more mister lobster guy

As one of the melanin-challenged people of the world, sunburn is a constant threat. Living in Austin, Texas and loving the water makes this even more risky. Even after a short trip, I can come home looking like I belong on a bed of lettuce with a side of butter.

I also tend to be very picky about what I put on my skin, from clothes to lotion. I am so finicky, I started my own review site for people just as picky as me. Is it possible that this all in my head…

I have tried many sunscreens, and normally I hate them. Picking one was simply a matter of price since no matter what I would be uncomfortable with how it felt. Some felt fine but wouldn’t work, and I would still become mister lobster. Others would make you feel like you were covered in muck.

I picked up Neutrogena Beach Defense at a Walgreens, I knew I was going to be heading to the beach so the name worked on me. I got the lotion as I don’t trust the spray, I always end up missing an area. I applied the lotion and felt a little dread. It didn’t feel like muck. I was concerned that it wouldn’t work. I waited for the redness, the burning, the itching of my lobster form. It didn’t come. I have only used this lotion ever since. Maybe that makes me less of an expert, but Neutrogena Beach Defense has kept the lettuce and butter in the fridge.

Bye-bye Mr. Lobster Guy.
